NTA Conducts Comprehensive Training for NGCP SCADA Engineers

Quezon City, Philippines — From May 7 to 9, 2024, NTA Energy Solutions Corporation held a successful product introduction and comprehensive training session for the SCADA engineers of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). The training, aimed at enhancing the technical skills of NGCP's engineers, was led by NTA Energy Solutions’ Vice President of Sales and Technical Operations, Mr. Paulo Reyes, Head of Technical Operations, Engr. Orlando Canlas, and Technical Support Team members Mr. Carlito Mendoza and Mr. Mark Jayson Fernandez.
The training covered a range of advanced products critical to energy automation and grid monitoring. Engineers were introduced to the Orion Automation Platform, including the OrionLX+, OrionMX, Orion SX, and Orion I/O Remote Terminal Units (RTUs). These units are essential for controlling and monitoring power substations in real time. Additionally, the Bitronics 50/60 Series (M650/M660) meters, used for substation metering, and the Bitronics 70 Series (M871/M872), employed for Network Disturbance Monitoring Equipment (NDME), were thoroughly discussed. The training also explored IEC 61850 protocol integration of the Bitronics 70 Series meters with the Orion RTUs.
Time synchronization, a critical element for grid operations, was another key topic, with the SCADA engineers learning how to utilize the Kronos 3R PTP/PRP Satellite Clock to ensure precise time syncing across various systems.
In addition to these automation and metering solutions, the engineers were trained on the Westermo Rugged Industrial Ethernet Switches and 4G Routers. The featured products included the SDI-880 Unmanaged Switch, the Lynx-3510 POE Managed Ethernet Switch, and the Merlin 3G/4G Routers, all of which are designed for reliable, industrial-grade communication in power grid environments.
The training sessions emphasized both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, ensuring that NGCP’s SCADA engineers are equipped with the skills to implement and maintain these cutting-edge technologies.
